When I was just 14 years old, I conjured up the character of Nicala during our playful role-playing sessions with my sister. Our imaginations ran wild as we embodied characters from our favorite TV shows, but Nicala came straight from my mind. As I brought her to life in role-playing chat rooms, her personality and story began to take shape. The excitement and joy I felt while writing for Nicala made it clear to me that I had to share her story with others.
