Several years and hundreds of miles lay between Harlen and Millie Vostesk and the rainy coast of Wakefield. The troubles that plagued them, however, have only grown deeper roots. Corrik Magister is a man as patient as death itself, and they cannot escape the knowledge that it’s only a matter of time before he comes to collect what grows within them.
Meanwhile, back on the coast, women have been going missing. The city guard and seemingly the entire city’s population remain indifferent to the disappearance of those on the fringes of society. Only those who know the horrible truth of where they go and who has taken them have any hope of uncovering the mystery before more of them vanish.
